Cisco is suing HP following a failed VoIP contract, according to reports.

The lawsuit was filed on August 24 in Santa Clara Superior Court.

It regards a dispute about the calculation of a monetary credit on the loan balance owed by HP under a financing agreement between the pair.

Back in 2012, the two companies entered into the contract where Cisco agreed to provide support for HP's VoIP service.

The customer in question has not been named. However, this customer cancelled the service in 2013 and, in turn, HP cancelled its Cisco service.

According to reports, the cancellation entitled HP to early termination credits applied to its remaining balance, and after these credits were applied Cisco claimed HP still owed $58 million.

In response, HP said it shouldn't have to pay anything and is entitled to a ‘full credit'.

Cisco says HP is seeking credits that amount to more than what it owes.

Neither party has released an official statement on the lawsuit - HP has a policy of not commenting on pending litigation.
