Former EMC exec joins Commvault

Commvault has announced the appointment of a new VP as the company chases growth in the Asia Pacific region.

Mark Velthuis joins the company from EMC as the the vice president of Indirect Business for Asia Pacific and Japan.

Owen Taraniuk, head of Commvault in Asia Pacific and Japan, says Velthuis' appointment is integral to Commvault's growth strategy through channels and distributors, alliances and systems integrators.

This includes strengthening newer strategic partnerships such as Nutanix, dnd further expanding integration with the company's more traditional partners such as NetApp and Hitachi Data Systems.

“Mark joins Commvault with an outstanding track record of building strategic partnerships and a strong channel partner network that will help us grow and provide opportunities across our ecosystem of partners,” says Taraniuk.

“He will join an award-winning program deeply committed to differentiating our indirect offerings in the market, leading us to better serve our customers and partners,” he says.

Velthuis has held a number of senior-level leadership positions, most recently senior diretctor Strategic Alliances for EMC Corporation, where he led the Market Development team across the region and worked closely with service providers, system integrators and consultants to create new markets and value propositions.

Velthuis will move into his new role in January.

“We are confident Mark's leadership will deepen our engagement with our indirect business and will be a key part of our success as we continue to drive momentum in the market,” Taraniuk adds.

The company has also announced the appointment of Dan Kieran as the new area vice president of Australia and New Zealand.

Taraniuk says Kieran joins at a time when Commvault is accelerating the development of its Integrated Solutions Portfolio to assist Australian and New Zealand customers.

 “We are thrilled to have Dan join the team, his three decades of experience working in enterprise technology combined with his passion for business strategy development and change management will continue to strengthen our relationships with customers and partners across Australia and New Zealand,” he says.
