FYI, this story is more than a year old

VMware ANZ boss Duncan Bennet has resigned from his role at the virtualisation company after four years in the top job.

VMware says Bennet will end his time with the company on 31 December, with Sharat Sinha, VMware APJ vice president, taking over the role until a permanent replacement is appointed.

“Duncan took some time out of the business earlier this year to support his wife,” a spokesperson for the company says. “Now, after going through that journey, he has made the difficult decision to leave VMware so he can continue to support her through her ongoing recovery.

Bennet has been with VMware for six of his 35-plus years in management and sales in the IT industry.

He started with the company in January 2010 as director of sales, commercial and SMB, before being appointed to the role of vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand in April 2011.

In a statement, Sanjay Mirchandani, VMware corporate senior vice president, Asia Pacific and Japan, thanked Bennet for the ‘significant' contribution he has made to the VMware business in Australia and New Zealand and wished him well.
