FYI, this story is more than a year old

Epson has today announced it has launched the new SureColor SC-P600, a ‘fast, flexible and easy-to-use' printer for amateur and semi-professional photographers, which the company says produces professional, high-quality photo prints in sizes up to A3+.

The SureColor SC-P600 is Epson's top-of-the-range A3+ photo printer and ‘combines superb quality, high productivity and superior wireless connectivity in a compact and affordable package'.

The SC-P600 features Epson's new UltraChrome HD with Vivid Magenta ink to produce ‘excellent quality' prints. Epson says the new nine-colour UltraChrome HD inkset can reproduce a very wide colour gamut and with a 2.84 DMax - the industry's highest black density1 - produce deep, rich blacks and ultra-smooth tonal gradations. “This unprecedented black density has never been seen before from a pigment ink,” it says.

The SC-P600 offers the auto-switching of black inks, an intelligent linking technology that enables the printer to automatically switch between Photo and Matte Black inks to optimise output, based on the media type chosen.

Photo Black Ink produces rich, deep blacks on traditional photographic papers while Matte Black Ink produces results on matte surface media.

“The advantage of unprecedented black density doesn't end there as with the SC-P600's Advanced Black-and-White Photo Mode, users can choose from one of four pre-set modes - neutral, warm, cool, or sepia - for stunning neutral or toned black-and-white prints.

Epson says this feature provides ‘intuitive and consistent control' through custom slider bars and a colour tone wheel for advanced tone adjustment.

In addition, customised settings can be saved and recalled to achieve consistent prints, and using the optional downloadable Epson Print Layout software, users can automatically preview personal images with the selected settings.

Ideal for amateur and semi-professional photographers, Epson says the SureColor SC-P600 will also appeal to businesses that have a regular requirement for exceptional-quality colour presentations with photographic content.

The new printer provides Wi-Fi Direct wireless printing connectivity from smartphones, tablets and PCs. For the first time on a single-function Epson A3+ photo printer2, Epson Connect is supported. Google Cloud PrintT and Apple AirPrintT are also supported.

Designed for medium-volume production, the SC-P600 outputs an 11 x 14 inch print in 153 seconds. Twin paper paths enable A3+ printing on a wide variety of photo and fine art papers, canvas and thick media, while the machine's roll-paper capability is ideal for high-impact panoramic images.
