Exclusive update: StorageCraft appoints Ingram Micro as NZ distributor
Mon, 17th Mar 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

StorageCraft has appointed Ingram Micro as its second broad-based distributor in New Zealand for the ShadowProtect family of backup, recovery, migration, replication and disaster recovery solutions for virtual and physical servers.

Following exclusive reports on TechDay.com last week, StorageCraft Vice President Asia Pacific Greg Wyman, told TechDay that New Zealand is a “key market for StorageCraft.”

“We have a very large and strong partner community covering the North and South Islands, with more than 800 resellers and more than 19,000 customers, ranging from small to medium-sized businesses through to enterprise,” he said.

“The appointment of Ingram Micro will reinforce our focus on promoting StorageCraft’s enterprise capabilities.”

Wyman also told TechDay the company’s resellers have “told us it is preferable for us to be better aligned with our partners and their suppliers, so that it is easier for them (StorageCraft resellers) to ‘single source’ a complete solution.”

“By partnering with Ingram Micro, our resellers will be able to build a complete solution, including Microsoft or VMware, the server, the BDR (Backup Disaster Recovery) appliance, the networking and of course ShadowProtect, to deliver a one-stop shop for their backup and disaster recovery requirements,” he added.

As part of its strategic focus on New Zealand, StorageCraft employed Paul Caldwell as country manager for New Zealand in October 2013.

According to Wyman, Caldwell has extensive experience in the channel, specifically backup and recovery, and he understands how important it is for end users to be able to recover data, systems and mission critical applications in the event of a disaster.

Supporting Caldwell are Karl Thomson as pre sales expert and Ben Rowland-North as account manager. Technical support is still delivered from the StorageCraft regional headquarters in Sydney.

“Ingram Micro is NZ’s largest IT distributor and StorageCraft is an exciting new vendor for us,” added Gary Bigwood, MD, Ingram Micro New Zealand.

“StorageCraft is a dominant player in disaster recovery and backup of both virtual and physical servers, and as we provide the servers (HP, IBM, Cisco, Intel), the operating systems (Microsoft, RedHat), the virtual infrastructures (VMware, Hyper-V), the anti-virus (Trend Micro), and the disk sub-systems (HP, IBM, Seagate, Lenovo, NetGear, LaCie), we can now build end-to-end backup and recovery solutions to suit almost any budget.

“The inclusion of StorageCraft technology in our portfolio will enable our resellers to deliver a truly compelling value proposition to their customers.”

Wyman insists one of StorageCraft’s key goals moving forward with Ingram is to better educate its partners and customers.

“Most of the partners understand that StorageCraft delivers rock solid backup and disaster recovery, but they don’t realise that StorageCraft also delivers powerful revenue opportunities to its partners,” he adds.

Check out the following solutions below:

Simplified Exchange 2013 migration, which allows a user to build an Exchange 2013 server, then ‘drag & drop’ the EDB from Exchange 2003, 2007 or 2010 on to the 2013 server to complete the migration.Enterprise Disaster Recovery without the enterprise price tag, using VMware or Hyper-V as the disaster recovery platform.

Physical to Virtual, Physical to Physical and Virtual to Virtual Migrations with StorageCraft Technology, which is one of the few technologies that delivers real-time, near zero impact ‘any to any’ migrations.
