Five in a row as Fujitsu NZ's profit grows
Wed, 25th Sep 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Company says "successful, innovative implementations of solutions into private and public sector customer projects contribute to sustained profitability."

Fujitsu New Zealand Limited has revealed an another extremely successful year as it cements itself as a key player in the NZ market, particularly in the area of Managed Services.

Announcing greater than 30 per cent growth compared to the previous year, the company continues a trend of year-on-year profit growth over the last five years.

The continued growth in profitability is attributed to the securing of significant new private and public sector customers during the past year, as well as an expanding footprint in existing customers.

Importantly, these wins have been across Fujitsu New Zealand's product and service offerings, such as managed services, project services, regional field services, procurement, application development and testing services.

“This extremely pleasing result is testament to the calibre of Fujitsu's tremendous local team, and their ability to leverage Fujitsu's global strengths to deliver the best business, information technology and communications systems to our customers," says Jo Healey, MD, Fujitsu New Zealand.

Healey says the company experienced a 33 per cent increase in staff numbers since April 2012 as a result of new customer engagements, an increase in the export of services and new lines of business.

Fujitsu's inclusion on the Government Syndicated Agreement for IT Managed Services in 2012 has also made a significant contribution to the company's performance.

Highlights of this panel contract include two 4 plus 3 year contracts to deliver IT Managed Services to the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and Ministry of Justice.

To date Fujitsu New Zealand believes it is the only vendor to have secured customers on this contract.

“In partnership with our public and private sector clients, we have designed and implemented exciting new solutions particularly in grants management, testing services and a Cloud solution focussed on Property Management," Healey adds.

“Our Grants Management solution has been developed as a New Zealand-centric solution addressing funds and grants management requirements for public and private sector organisations.

"With our first implementations having been successfully completed in this last year, we now have a proven and referenceable solution.

Another driver for services business growth is the demand for migration from XP to Windows 7, which is gaining momentum across New Zealand. Over the last 12 months the company has completed five major migrations and has another six major migrations in progress.

“We are proud of our achievements in New Zealand and with our overall level of performance despite ongoing, difficult global economic conditions and the impact of New Zealand's devastating natural disasters,” Healey adds.

Fujitsu currently employs more than 800 staff and contractors in New Zealand.
