Hands-on review: Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Low Profile keyboard
Mon, 29th Oct 2018
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Recently I had the opportunity to get hands-on with Corsair's latest mechanical keyboard, the K70 RGB MK.2, and test out how it stacked up to its competitors as well as older siblings.

Corsair has been at the forefront of gaming equipment for a while now, so needless to say that they know their stuff when it comes to creating a solid gaming keyboard. Personally, I am kitted out with several of their products on my gaming setup.

However, until now I was using a Razer Blackwidow keyboard. Nevertheless, I decided to try out the K70 and to my surprise, it more than stacked up to my previous keyboard.

From the outside, you can immediately see that Corsair puts a lot of effort into the design of their products, everything about this keyboard screams high-tech. The keyboard is built to last, with an aluminium frame, 100% CHERRY MX key switches and stunning per-key RGB dynamic backlighting.

Personally, I am a big fan of the way the new keyboard is laid out as well, with the media keys being made more pronounced and easier to access. This allows me to quickly scale volume if someone comes into the room to talk to me while I'm in the middle of a gunfight in Fortnite, allowing me to continue both the game and conversation seamlessly.

When it comes down to the gaming itself this keyboard is designed from the ground up to help you succeed. With the new Cherry MX Speed key switch, the keyboard offers a new choice for those who demand the fastest key switches available.

An ultrafast 1.2mm actuation point and light 45g actuation force make them ideal for split-second key presses or clutch gaming moments where every millisecond counts.

With the speed you need to stay ahead and the accuracy you need to win, Cherry MX Speed is the standout choice for gamers who demand the shortest path to victory.

However, this keyboard doesn't just shine when it comes to gaming, as a writer I found that this keyboard was still a stand out in my day to day tasks. Typing was a smooth experience and at no point did I feel hampered by the keyboard.

Overall the Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 provided a seamless and smooth gaming experience as well as acted superbly as a functional day-to-day keyboard and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone on the lookout for a new keyboard.
