Hitachi Vantara unveils advanced hybrid cloud platform
Tue, 23rd Apr 2024

Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of global technology corporation Hitachi, has announced the launch of a new solution, the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One. This advanced hybrid cloud platform promises to reshape the way organisations manage and utilise their rapidly expanding datasets, driven by the proliferation of generative AI and cloud technologies, propelling them into a new era of data management.

Businesses are currently struggling with major challenges in managing data amid the steep rise of generative AI, innovative cloud technologies, and particularly, exponential data growth, the company states. According to a recent Data Management Maturity Assessment (DMMA) conducted by TDWI, it was revealed that 71% of IT experts agreed their organisation values data, but only 19% have a strong data management strategy in place. Moreover, the increasing prevalence of cyberattacks has resulted in heightened security concerns. A recent survey found that 68% of IT leaders worry about the resilience of their organisation's data infrastructure.

Addressing these concerns, Hitachi Vantara has developed a series of Virtual Storage Platform One products that are available now. These include Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Block, Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud, and Virtual Storage Platform One File. This innovative new platform has been explicitly designed to simplify infrastructure for mission-critical applications, focusing heavily on data availability, data resiliency, and reliability measures, including mitigation of risks such as downtime, productivity losses and security threats.

Octavian Tanase, the chief product officer of Hitachi Vantara, praised the platform's features saying, "Virtual Storage Platform One is transformational in the storage landscape as it unifies data and provides flexibility regardless of whether your data is in an on-premises, cloud, or software-defined environment. The platform is built with resiliency in mind, guaranteeing 100% data availability, modern storage assurance, and effective capacity across all its solutions, providing organisations with simplicity at scale and an unbreakable data foundation for hybrid cloud."

The Virtual Storage Platform One addresses the modern data management challenges by eliminating data silos, providing every piece of information with the flexibility to work cohesively and scale up or down with ease. A prime example of this is the availability of the Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud in AWS Marketplace. This offers businesses the promise of seamless integration and accessibility to take advantage of Hitachi Vantara's impressive next-gen data management solutions within AWS.

Deniz Armen Aydn, the cloud data storage technologies manager of banking giant Garanti BBVA, spoke about the introduction of the Virtual Storage Platform One saying, "This promises to revolutionise data management and efficiency within Garanti BBVA, igniting our anticipation for the cutting-edge automation and resiliency features it offers."

Additional products from the Virtual Storage Platform One catalogue are planned for release later in the year. With this new technology, Hitachi Vantara continues its mission to innovate and transform how data fuels businesses, delivering enhanced data storage, infrastructure, and cloud management solutions to its clientele worldwide, the company shared in a statement.
