Sektor NZ acquires security distie DUO NZ

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Sektor New Zealand has bought out cybersecurity distributor DUO New Zealand, as part of its efforts to broaden its security portfolio.

Sektor, which distributes technology for markets including ergonomics, health, mobility, networking, payments, and retail, is described as a market leader by DUO cofounder and CEO Kendra Ross.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have found an acquirer in Sektor who shares DUO's values and culture,” says Ross.

“Sektor are market leaders in verticals that are increasingly intersecting with the cybersecurity market, it's an emerging market for us that we have been very keen to pursue.

DUO is the brainchild of both Ross and cofounder Jackie Hatchwell. The company was founded in 1996. DUO will remain a standalone company Sektor. Ross will take the role as general manager. All DUO management and staff will stay on board.

“Sektor offers us a platform for further growth as part of a larger New Zealand-owned distributor, both in New Zealand and in Australia. The whole team are excited about this next chapter in the DUO story,” adds Hatchwell.

“Cybersecurity threats are growing to be a major risk for all businesses and the market for cybersecurity solutions is growing accordingly,” adds Sektor New Zealand managing director Andre van Duiven.

“DUO's position as the cybersecurity market leader fits perfectly with Sektor's plan to support this growing market, especially in Sektor's vertical markets such as mobile computing, security cameras, retail POS and healthcare where cyber threats are now starting to be fully appreciated.

Just this week security vendor RSA announced that DUO will be its New Zealand distributor.

Ross says the partnership allows DUO to offer a broader range of security solutions, and it can now enter new markets such as digital risk management.

“DUO is known for its best-of-breed cybersecurity products and services,” says RSA Australia and New Zealand channel manager Catherine De'Athe.

“It's also an important part of the New Zealand security community, having started the country's largest Senior Security Professionals community 1stTuesday, and Project Wednesday, a meet-up for people new to cybersecurity. We look forward to introducing our unified approach to Digital Risk Management to their extensive network.

DUO will distribute RSA's complete range of products including RSA SecurID Suite, RSA Archer Suite, RSA NetWitness Platform and RSA Fraud - Risk Intelligence Suite.

The partnership is part of RSA's SecurWorld program for channel partners. It offers a range of sales tools, including campaign kits, demo videos, training, and marketing materials.
