Amazon heads Down Under with Sydney roles
Mon, 18th Feb 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Amazon is eyeing up the Australia and New Zealand market for business growth with the company posting a slew of job listings for Sydney based roles for its Amazon Web Services business.

The company already has an Australian data center, but if recent job listing on its site are anything to go by, the region is in for a much more concerted attack from the world's number one retailer, at least on the cloud services front.

Amazon Web Services provides cloud services to 'hundreds of thousands' of businesses in 190 countries. Customers reportedly include Netflix and a range of US government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health.

Amazon's site is currently listing 14 positions in Sydney, including cloud support engineers, sales reps, data center logistics co-ordinators, data center technicians and technical project lead for data center operations.

Among the roles on offer are several ANZ positions, including an inside sales manager, ANZ senior technical trainer and ANZ sourcer/recruiter.

According to the inside sales manager ad, the company is seeking to increase adoption by developing strategic acounts with both start-ups and enterprises and establish Amazon as a key technology platform provider in ANZ.
