Asnet launches 'videoconferencing as a service'

Asnet Technologies has entered high-def videoconferencing arena with a solution called VideoNet, which the firm describes as “the first of its kind and marks a change for the New Zealand company, selling a locally developed technology service in addition to hardware solutions.”

Using equipment from Polycom and connections based on a common set of standards, VideoNet offers customers a full suite of videoconferencing services backed by Asnet support , training and ongoing management for as single set price.

For a flat monthly fee, customers can conduct unlimited bridged calls between locations on their network.

“Videoconferencing is here and useful for businesses of any size. If you can save one flight per month from each office location, you can get started using videoconferencing services,” says Chris Stewart, General Manager of Asnet Technologies. “We think VideoNet is the perfect solution for companies tired of poor quality consumer solutions and that are ready to step up to high definition, business-class features. All you need is two locations, a bit of network infrastructure, and you’re good to go.”

VideoNet is capable of point-to-point connections between two units, or using virtual meeting spaces where three or more users can connect. An audio dial-in option is also available.

The service is available in five packages:

VideoNet Boardroom ($1,333 per month for 720P high definition, or $1,555 for 1080P high definition) is a pair of 52-inch LCD displays mounted on a moveable cart with a high-definition video camera.
VideoNet Meeting ($766 per month) is a high-definition 42-inch LCD display and camera mounted on a moveable cart with full Telepresence capability.
VideoNet Executive ($275 per month) is ideal for use in an individual office, with a 24-inch LCD display and camera fully maintained and supported by asnet Technologies.
VideoNet Teleworker ($199 per month) is a Polycom VVX 1500 IP-based media phone with attached LCD screen and camera.
VideoNet Desktop ($25 per month per desktop) software uses a laptop webcam and display to provide portable videoconferencing on the go. It’s ideal for remote workers or road warriors, and offers full telepresence capabilities in addition to videoconferencing.
