Atlas Gentech tops for Huawei
Wed, 13th May 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Atlas Gentech has been named Huawei's Southern Pacific Region Excellent Partner for 2014 – just one year after gaining New Zealand distribution rights for Huawei's enterprise offerings.

Chris Fair, Atlas Gentech national brand manager, says the win is an indication that the collective first year effort has been focused in the right direction.

He says the award also signals that Huawei see New Zealand as an important part of their global enterprise strategy.

“The Huawei Enterprise Group is the new player in the market and Atlas Gentech, Huawei NZ and our New Zealand partners are ensuring its success here,” Fair says.

He says Atlas Gentech ‘could not have imagined the appetite New Zealand has had for Huawei IT and IP solutions'.

“Initially when we sat down with Huawei, we both agreed that a phased approach to market release of solutions was the best idea, but our customers demanded more.

He says the explosion of cloud offerings and the data center infrastructure required to support those offerings have resulted in ‘massive' interest and uptake of Huawei infrastructure.

“Our aim now is to increase market share and continue to work on projects which will effectively serve as a showcase for what we can bring to help New Zealand companies grow,” Fair says.

He says the company has had a busy year with Huawei.

Atlas Gentech has set up distribution in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to ensure partners have access to Huawei solutions when and where they need it.

The distributor has also brought to market a nationwide support network giving partners the ability to provide support services covering all levels of technical support and spares holding in all major cities, supporting critical SLA turnaround time.

“Our support services is one of our great market differentiators,” says Fair.

“When you're the new face in the market you have to build confidence in the vendor, so to drive confidence we've invested heavily in demo equipment giving our partners the ability to test product to their satisfaction and support their own POC deployments on their customer sites,” he adds.

Huawei certified technical courses have also been run, and continue to be run, across the country enabling partners to get certified across the entire solution set, including networks, servers and storage and network security.

“Suffice to say, it's been a busy year,” Fair says.
