Brightpoint provides sweet music for Harman lifestyle audio expansion

11 Aug 16

Ingram Micro subsidiary Brightpoint has inked a deal with Harman International Industries to distribute its lifestyle audio solutions in New Zealand, in an effort to widen the vendor’s presence locally.

The deal will see Brightpoint distributing Harman’s consumer brands, including JBL, Harman/Kardon, Infinity and AKG.

Brightpoint says the deal will ‘significantly’ expand availability of the Harman consumer brands, and bolster its presence with existing retail partners.

Alan Nanson, Brightpoint New Zealand managing director, says Harman’s audio brands are ‘appreciated’ by a range of consumers, from audiophiles to casual listeners.

Grace Koh, Harman vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific, says Brightpoin’s network and reach will be instrumental in improving distribution of the company’s lifestyle audio solutions, with the company looking to introduce new products and innovations in the coming months.

Marcus Fry, who heads brand activation for Harman Lifestyle Audio across Australia and New Zealand, says “We are confident this new agreement will enable us to expand our product portfolio and service our retail partners and end consumers better.”

Harman is also distributed locally by Convoy International, which will focus on Harman’s luxury audio categories and channels.

Geoff Matthews, Convoy International chief executive says Convoy is focusing more intently on specialty audio and having Harman’s premium products ‘certainly enhances the offering we can provide to our customers’.
