Chaos acquires EvolveLAB to enhance AEC AI solutions
Chaos has announced its acquisition of EvolveLAB, a developer of AI software designed for professionals in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC).
The acquisition will bolster Chaos' offerings in design-to-visualisation solutions, incorporating tools for building information modelling (BIM) automation, AI-driven ideation, and computational design.
EvolveLAB, established in 2015, brought generative AI technology into architectural modelling, allowing integration with major BIM products such as SketchUp, Revit, and Vectorworks. This tech facilitates smart documentation and generative design, widely used by firms like Cuningham, Störmer Murphy and Partners, H2I, LS3P, and TVS Design to decrease costs and project delays.
The integration of EvolveLAB's solutions into the Chaos ecosystem aims to create a comprehensive hub for design and visualisation in the AEC industry. Users are expected to benefit from streamlined workflows that cover concept ideation, real-time visualisation, photorealistic rendering, generative design, and AI documentation.
Stephan Sieber, Chief Executive Officer at Chaos, stated, "With EvolveLAB now part of Chaos, the company solidifies its position as the go-to platform for architects, designers, and VFX artists looking to seamlessly transform imagination into reality. EvolveLAB's tools have already been embraced by the community for their thoughtful designs and ability to streamline cumbersome processes. Together, we'll continue to develop these tools, creating even better ways to ideate, enhance and generate custom designs."
Bill Allen, CEO of EvolveLAB, commented, "Chaos is known throughout this industry as a designer-centric company, which is a must for anyone we work with. By joining forces, we can fast track our AI developments while adding an important new component to Chaos' immersive design hub, which will help designers do even more in one place."
In practice, designers have previously combined EvolveLAB tools like Veras with Chaos' Enscape, significantly boosting the timeline and quality of design processes. The synergy of these technologies is particularly noted in different phases, from initial ideation to final client presentations.
Hanns-Jochen Weyland from Störmer Murphy and Partners, based in Hamburg, Germany, expressed, "Over a year ago, we began exploring AI tools to speed up our workflows and were excited to discover Veras, a solution specifically designed for AEC that seamlessly integrates with host platforms. Veras is now our go-to for initial ideation before transitioning to renderings in Enscape. This powerful combination accelerates concept development and ensures reliable outcomes."
Joseph Bertucci from Cuningham highlighted the impact of this technology, "At Cuningham, we integrate EvolveLAB's Veras and Glyph alongside Chaos' Enscape to enhance our design process. Using both Enscape and Veras allows us to visualise, iterate, and explore design concepts in real-time while leveraging AI-driven enhancements for rapid refinement. Meanwhile, Glyph has been a game-changer for auto-documentation, enabling us to efficiently generate views and drawing sets, saving valuable time in project setup. These tools collectively streamline our workflows, boosting efficiency, precision, and creativity."
The collaboration between Chaos and EvolveLAB teams will focus on further integrating their products and accelerating AI development. EvolveLAB's products will continue to be available to customers, with key personnel such as Bill Allen and Ben Guler taking on roles within Chaos. Allen will become Director of Product Management, while Guler will serve as Director of Software Development.
