Tech Data is on the hunt for a new ANZ boss for its Technology Solutions business – previously part of Avnet – following the departure of Darren Adams from the top local job.

Adams took on the role of Tech Data's vice president and general manager for Australia and New Zealand in March, when the company entered the local markets following its acquisition of Avnet.

He had been the vice president and general manager for ANZ for Avnet since January 2013, and had been with Avnet since 2002.

Michael Costigan, Tech Data Asia Pacific vice president, marketing, education and supplier management, will serve as interim general manager of the ANZ operations until a permanent replacement is appointed.

William Chu, Tech Data Asia Pacific president, paid tribute to Adams, saying he had achieved a great deal during his time with Technology Solutions.

“We sincerely thank him for his dedication to the business and wish him every success in his next endeavour,” Chu says.

“The Australia and New Zealand business is of great importance to Tech Data both from a regional and global perspective.

“Whilst in the role of interim leader, Michael Costigan will be focused on the a smooth transition and be involved in stratgic activities to support and drive growth for our partners and suppliers,” Chu says.
