FYI, this story is more than a year old

A record number of new entrants from companies across New Zealand have lifted the bar for this year's Hi-Tech Awards, to be held on May 17 in Auckland.

With the finalists for the awards recently announced, software firms Xero and Serko are also in the running for the top prize of Hi-Tech Company of the Year, along with manufacturing company Buckley Systems.

Currently one of the technology sector’s most sought-after accolades, prizes have been awarded over the years to New Zealand’s most successful high-tech companies, and highest achieving individuals.

The Awards programme, administered by the NZ Hi-Tech Trust, promotes the sector as a leading contributor to New Zealand’s economy and export success, and enjoys the support and input of our highly successful technology industries.

"This year's finalists range from companies in their infancy through to some of our biggest and most high profile hi-tech companies," said Wayne Norrie, chairman, Hi-Tech Trust.

"New Zealand technology companies have a unique flavour that extends well beyond the realms of traditional ICT."

"It is great to see such a range of entries across the board and so many companies entering who are just embarking on their big journey."

After launching in 1994, the awards have since evolved into a platform for all technology industries, covering ICT, electronics, software, biotechnology, creative, telecommunications and digital media.
