Fri, 19th Oct 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

FileMaker is offering newcomers the chance to improve their FileMaker Pro knowledge with a trio of free half day sessions in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

The seminars start in Christchurch on October 30, followed by Wellington on November 1 and finally Auckland on November 2.

The award-winning software provider is offering an introductory session to give customers the chance to understand, use and build FileMaker databases, with no previous skills required.

While basic computer skills are necessary, a strong understanding of the software is not compulsory as the seminars cater for all FileMaker Pro needs and levels of knowledge.

But if you do have experience with databases however, this seminar will build on your knowledge and give you the opportunity to ask questions.

You could have a project in mind that you would like to start developing after the seminar, made easier with the chance to discuss your plans and even exchange your experiences with other participants during scheduled breaks.

This seminar is also an ideal basis for understanding how FileMaker works so you can communicate your requirements when working with a professional FileMaker developer.

Topics include how to:• Open FileMaker Pro databases• Effortlessly maintain and update your business and customer information• Find and sort to quickly get the information to create the reports you need• Protect your data and automate processes for easy use• Link your FileMaker Pro database to mobile versions on your iPad and iPhone

Bringing your computer to the seminar is optional with guests welcome to bring along a laptop or iPad/iPhone device and follow some of the exercises.

All attendees will be provided with seminar notes that you can add to during the day while downloads will be available after the seminar for you to practise and reinforce your new skills.

Trained by David Head, Systems Engineer for FileMaker Inc, attendees can draw on David's experience as a FileMaker 12 Certified Developer with over 20 years experience developing FileMaker solutions for a broad range of users and industries.

David is also a FileMaker Authorised Trainer and qualified teacher allowing him to explain technical matters in simple English so you get the most from your seminar.
