Getac partnership to bolster sustainability initiatives

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Getac announced a partnership with One Tree Planted as part of its Earth Day 2022 sustainability initiative, which aims to plant 30,000 trees.

The 'Our Solutions Your Success' campaign will invite Getac partners and customers to participate in the initiative and is inspired by the company's customers from across the public safety, natural resources, and environmental protection sectors.

The partnership will see the two organisations collaborate to raise funds that they hope will have a long-term impact on sustainability.

Additionally, the program will support the ecosystem that has suffered from forest fires in an attempt to restore climate stability, and all proceeds raised will go directly to reforestation projects worldwide from One Tree Planted.

"Getac is committed to being environmentally responsible on a global level. We implement process innovation, enhance energy use efficiency, and promote the universal use of eco-friendly materials by relying on R-D efforts in core technologies," Getac Technology Corporation president Rick Hwang says.

"We are excited to collaborate with One Tree Planted to encourage our internal and external stakeholders to value environmental success.

"The partnership is in line with our actions of carbon emission reduction as we work to encourage our audiences to play an active role in protecting the earth."

Previous initiatives from Getac have seen the company advocate for environmental protection and carbon neutrality by promoting green manufacturing processes and the use of sustainable production materials.

The announcement of this initiative comes after the company recently launched a new app to coincide with its new products.

The OEMConfig app continues to expand on the company's dedication to the Android system and comes after the announcement in January of a new product line of rugged tablets.

Designed for those working in the public safety, utilities, energy, transport and logistics, manufacturing, automotive, and defence sectors, the versatile 10-inch ZX10 will now be compatible with a new OEMConfig app. In addition, the app will be compatible with the existing ZX70 model.

The app is made for Getac customers already using Android Enterprise Recommended (AER) Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) systems to oversee multiple devices. It will allow users to configure and update all their Getac Android devices simultaneously with their existing EMM system.

It will also enable users to control their settings such as device display, physical button configurations, touch screen set up, and general system settings across a range of devices at once. Furthermore, Firmware over-the-air processes also allow for automatic security updates across all devices.

Getac says it believes promoting sustainability should work in unison with the core values of technology to achieve desired outcomes and meet stakeholders' expectations.

Furthermore, the company's offerings have received a range of green certifications, including EPEAT, RoHS Directive, REACH Regulation and ENERGY STAR, and have made positive contributions to assisting other global organisations in achieving major environmental impact.

"We are grateful for the support of businesses like Getac who are passionate about making a positive impact on the environment," One Tree Planted forest campaign manager Ashley Lamontagne says.

"The trees we'll plant together will create lasting benefits for wildfire relief and climate stability."
