HPE’s US$650 million acquisition of hyperconverged infrastructure vendor SimpliVity has closed, with integration of the two companies now underway and HPE promising the first combined offerings for May.
That offering will be SimpliVity OmniStack software qualified for ProLiant DL380 servers.
Ric Lewis, Hewlett Packard Enterprise senior vice president and general manager, software defined and cloud group, says in the second half of 2017 ‘we plan to bring the best of HPE and SimpliVity together providing customers game changing innovations like ‘workspace’ controls, which provide business leaders and developers with simple self-service portals to compose virtualised and containeised resources and enhanced busienss insight, including predictive analytics’.
Lewis says this will give IT managers the tools they need to increase resource utilisation and proactively respond to needs for new resources.
He says HPE’s hyperconverged portfolio will benefit from SimpliVity’s technology, with those benefits including built-in enterprise data protection and resilience, enterprise storage utilisation and VM efficiency, always-on compression and deduplication and policy-based VM-centric management to simplify operations and enable data mobility.
“The things I’m most excited about are the strength of the people joining HPE and the roadmap that we will deliver for customers as a combined company,” Lewis says.
“By bringing together HPE’s best-in-class infrastructure, automation and cloud management with SimpliVity’s industry-leading software-defined management platform, we will deliver the best and most comprehensive hyperconverged offering to the market,” he says.
Lewis says the merger of the two companies will not affect current offering availability for SimpliVity partners or customers.
“We will work with you to migrate to our new offerings at your own pace.
“For current HPE customers and partners, we will continue to offer our existing hyperconverged products, the Hyper Converged 380 and the Hyper Converged 250 and provide a pathway to the SimpliVity based offerings.”
