FYI, this story is more than a year old

At Huawei Connect 2016 in Shanghai, the company has presented a comprehensive look into their cloud strategy for the first time ever.

More than 20,000 people from around the world gathered to hear Huawei's game plan for the cloud, and they weren't disappointed.

Huawei's rotating CEO, Ken Hu spoke at length about enabling an intelligent world with pervasive cloud technology.

"Over the next five to ten years, we will see all kinds of smart devices that automatically adapt to various use scenarios,” Hu says. “All people and all things will have the ability to sense their surroundings, and devices will serve as entry points to the intelligent world. Optical and wireless networks will provide ubiquitous, ultra-broadband connections.

Hu affirmed that in the meantime data will be key, distributed across the globe via interconnected computers to from a ‘digital brain' in the cloud.

This digital brain will evolve in real time, and it will never age, providing intelligence that can be called upon at any time by people and machines via high-speed connections and devices,” Hu says.

Hu says that enterprises are the main players in the cloud era, as all innovation will be focused around their unique requirements. For this reason, Huawei will aim to stay ‘customer-centric', always looking to gain insights into customer needs before building innovative solutions that address them.

According to Hu, enterprises that were born in the cloud led the charge of the first cloud era (companies like Facebook, Uber, Airbnb and AliBaba), but the next 10 years will mark the era of cloud 2.0 as countless industry clouds emerge. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) will be the cornerstone of this new era.

“Networks will connect everything, and the cloud will be the source of intelligence behind all things. These three elements form a synergetic architecture of devices, information pipes, and the cloud, and they are the strategic focus of Huawei's investment in the future,” Hu concludes.

Stay tuned as we will continue to provide updates as Huawei Connect 2016 progresses.
