Jamf unveils new API ecosystem & AI tools for Apple devices

Thu, 9th Oct 2025

Jamf has announced a new API ecosystem, enhanced artificial intelligence features, and expanded automated operating system updates for its Apple device management and security platform.

The company introduced these features as part of its strategy to provide a more dynamic and flexible solution for organisations managing and securing Apple devices across the enterprise. The announcements reflect Jamf's focus on delivering meaningful workflows for organisations deploying Apple devices at scale.

API ecosystem expansion

Central to the updates is the launch of the new Platform API ecosystem, which is designed to allow developers, IT, and security teams to streamline processes and enhance automation. The platform aims to offer a more unified and predictable method for building integrations across the Jamf environment. By doing so, it is intended to reduce complexity and give users more control over their device management workflows.

According to Jamf, the Platform APIs are created to adapt to different organisational environments, integrations, and workflows. This flexibility is expected to deliver tangible benefits for customers by simplifying custom workflow development and boosting overall efficiency, particularly for teams managing devices on a large scale.

For developers, the company says, the new APIs provide a more consistent and intuitive experience, building confidence during implementation. IT and security teams are expected to find value in the simplified approaches to automation, while technology partners can take advantage of deeper integration capabilities to develop more powerful applications within the Jamf ecosystem.

"We're thrilled to welcome Jamf Nation to Denver for JNUC," said John Strosahl, CEO of Jamf. "This year marks a major evolution in how customers engage with Jamf. Our flexible, extensible platform is powered by a rich API ecosystem and intelligent AI tools. These capabilities make it easier than ever for organizations to fully realize the potential of the Apple ecosystem - with features that matter, integrate seamlessly, and work the way customers need them to."

AI enhancements for security

Alongside the API updates, Jamf introduced a new Security Skill for its AI Assistant within Jamf Protect. This feature is designed to assist security teams with analysing telemetry, correlating events, and delivering straightforward guidance in response to security alerts.

The Security Skill builds on earlier Search and Explain Skills offered in Jamf Account and Jamf Pro, further expanding AI support for IT and security functions. The new feature aims to simplify frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and CVE references, translating complex concepts into actionable insights for security professionals.

By incorporating AI-driven plain-language responses, Jamf is aiming to help security teams manage alert fatigue and focus on prioritising the most important incidents.

Automated operating system updates and identity management

Other updates include an expansion of Jamf's Blueprints solution, which leverages Declarative Device Management (DDM) to automate software updates. With the new Automated Software Update Settings declaration, IT administrators can define update policies just once, allowing devices to self-manage operating system updates according to those settings.

This process is designed to eliminate the need for manual intervention, repeated checks, or scripts while maintaining IT control over parameters such as end user permissions, update deferral periods, and access to beta versions. The approach seeks to ensure consistency and compliance within organisations while reducing administrative overhead.

Jamf also supports Apple's Platform Single Sign-On (SSO) capability for enterprise authentication on Mac devices. Platform SSO aims to streamline the user experience by synchronising local passwords with cloud identity provider (IDP) accounts. The new updates extend SSO functionality to both native and web applications, allowing identity workflows to be managed before the user accesses the desktop environment. Jamf confirmed that it is working with identity partners to offer this level of support on the same day as the release of macOS 26.

Reach and impact

Jamf reports that its platform is used by more than 75,000 organisations in 100 countries, enabling management and security for over 30 million devices. This customer base includes organisations across sectors such as healthcare, education, retail, banking, manufacturing, and aviation.

The updates highlighted reflect an ongoing effort by Jamf to respond to the demands of IT, security, and developer communities, focusing on streamlined automation, enhanced integration, and more effective security operations as organisations continue to adopt Apple technology in critical business environments.
