Microsoft has rolled out "the world’s first TXT Updater” for its channel partners in New Zealand.

"Specifically designed to give New Zealand partners a competitive edge, TXT Updater will keep you up-to-date with breaking news, inside information and exclusive first access to Microsoft events, both here and overseas, right on your mobile phone,” the company says.

It’s free to receive messages but standard messaging rates apply for messages sent to 4411.

If you do sign up for the service, there’s also a chance of winning a Windows Phone 7.
