Microsoft has just announced its Azure Security Centre is now generally available and out of public preview.
Since its preview release in December, the security centre has had a few new additions:
- Log integration.
- Support for more Azure resource types.
- Email notifications.
- New detections.
- Security incidents.
- REST APIs.
- Integrated vulnerability assessment.
Microsoft claims Azure Security Centre will prevent, detect, and respond to threats with increased visibility into and have control over the security of its users resources.
Azure Security Centre enables a central view of the security state of all of its users Azure resources and, at a glance, it will verify that the appropriate security controls are in place and configured correctly.
On average, the company says it takes more than 200 days for an organisation to detect a breach. With the average cost of a breach reaching into the millions of dollars.
Enter Azure Security Centre.
Microsoft's latest approach incorporates solutions from its partners and leverages the company's unique perspective on threat intelligence.
Sarah Fender, principal programme manager with Azure Cyber Security, says that during its preview, Azure performed really well.
“During its preview period Azure Security Centre helped customers such as Chronodrive, Jet.com and Metro Bank gain visibility into the security state of their Azure resources, let them take control of cloud security policies, and monitored security configurations while helping them detect and respond to active attacks," says Fender.
Fender also states that no other public cloud offers the continuous monitoring provided by Azure Security Centre.
"No other vendor can match the breadth and diversity of threat intelligence that Microsoft can gather from its wide range of enterprise and consumer products and services," she says.
