Packet Tech gets Packet Power

Packet Technologies has landed a deal to distribute Minneapolis-based Packet Power's smart power consumption monitors for data centres.

"Packet Technologies has the expertise needed to ensure the success of our system in data centres of all sizes, and we look forward to helping them grow the number of companies using wireless monitoring technologies to improve data centre energy efficiency," said Packet Power CEO, Steve VanTassel.

Packet Technology general manager Frank Ollie said an increased focus in green IT is already increasing demand for this type of monitoring technology.

Though the main focus of the monitors is for use in data centres, Ollie said interest has been broad as people look for ways to conserve power.

The Packet Power monitor measures power consumption and temperature via a plug-in cable. When plugged in, the cable instantly shares information via wireless network.
