Renaissance director Robert Bijl resigns
Tue, 6th Aug 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Renaissance director Robert Bijl, the man representing the interests of the late Murray Wood, has resigned from his post after less than five months in the role.

Announced via an official company statement to the New Zealand Stock Exchange, on behalf of the board, chairman Colin Giffney revealed the news yesterday.

Clive Lewis, a former executive director of the company and one of last year's dissenting proxy holders (with a 4.9% vote), nominated Bijl to be a director in March, with Wood's widow Nicki Wood supporting the decision at the time.

Mrs Wood is the widow of Mr Wood, a former director who died in the Christchurch earthquake.

She controls 13.9% of the shares, with Bijl holding a long association with the Woods family.

Bijl's resignation follows that of Ron Halls, a former director and then acting CEO, who left the company in May due to personal reasons.

No further comment has been made by the company regarding the resignation at this stage.
