Siemens named Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for IIoT platforms

Thu, 9th Oct 2025

Siemens Digital Industries Software has been recognised as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Global Industrial IoT Platforms.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant report is a widely regarded market assessment tool, providing analysis on a variety of technology sectors, including industrial IoT (IIoT) platforms. Leaders in this quadrant are evaluated on their ability to execute and the completeness of their vision within the sector.

Gartner describes companies in the Leaders quadrant as those that invest in and shape the future of Industrial IoT Platforms. According to Gartner, these companies deliver consistently strong performance outcomes with their technologies and services, supported by a stable IoT business unit and a group of executives who bring industry experience aligned to corporate strategy.

This year marks the first time Siemens has been positioned as a Leader in this Magic Quadrant, having previously been classified as a Visionary. The report highlights Siemens' ongoing investments in data-driven solutions, artificial intelligence innovation, and its global flexibility as reasons behind the company's advancement into the Leaders quadrant.

Siemens' Insights Hub, the company's IIoT offering, provides scalable solutions for industrial asset management, driving real-time insights through the integration of AI and analytics. The platform is designed to help customers streamline operations, lower costs, and work towards achieving sustainability goals.

Commenting on this recognition, Dr. Ralf M. Wagner, Senior Vice President, Insights Hub, Siemens Digital Industries Software, said:

"We are honored to be positioned as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Industrial IoT solutions. We believe being named a Leader in the Magic Quadrant reflects the trust our customers place in Siemens to accelerate their digital transformation. At Siemens, we empower companies to improve efficiency, achieve sustainability goals and create long-term business value."

Gartner's report describes Leaders as companies that demonstrate both a strong ability to execute and a completeness of vision. Leaders are said to be well positioned to realise their vision while also being prepared for future developments within the IIoT market.

The Magic Quadrant is often used by businesses to assess technology vendors and solutions when making purchasing decisions. Placement in the Leaders quadrant can indicate a company's reliability and strategic direction, without being an endorsement by Gartner. Gartner notes in its research that: "Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in its research publications, and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors with the highest ratings or other designation. Gartner research publications consist of the opinions of Gartner's research organization and should not be construed as statements of fact."

Siemens' move into the Leader quadrant was attributed to its focus on expanding its portfolio of data-driven IIoT technologies, ongoing investment in AI, and its approach to serving a global market with deployment flexibility. The company's capabilities are intended to allow industrial customers to connect and manage assets on a worldwide scale, supporting operational decision-making based on real-time data and analytics.

By leveraging its background in industrial expertise and combining it with its technological resources, Siemens aims to deliver IIoT solutions that are adaptable to customer needs. The Insights Hub platform is specifically highlighted as offering the means for customers to optimise their operations, manage costs effectively, and work towards meeting environmental sustainability targets.

Recent announcements from Siemens have included the integration of AI into its Simcenter Testlab for modal testing and analysis processes, and partnerships to industrialise sustainable housing design as well as to drive sustainable product development with AI-powered lifecycle assessment software. These initiatives reflect the company's ongoing efforts to support digital transformation and operational efficiency within different sectors.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Global Industrial IoT Platforms involved analysis by researchers Scot Kim, Sudip Pattanayak, Emil Berthelsen, Sushovan Mukhopadhyay, Wam Voster, and Akhil Singh in 2025.
