SOTI upgrades platform to boost retail device security & speed

Thu, 13th Nov 2025

SOTI has unveiled a range of updates to its SOTI ONE Platform aimed at addressing increasing security concerns and improving operational efficiency for retailers. New features have been introduced that offer greater device control, better visibility of retail operations, and improved productivity for frontline staff.

Security expectations

Recent industry data indicate that concerns around data protection and the speed of service are rising among Australian retail consumers. SOTI's research shows that 82% of respondents expect retailers to prioritise data security when they shop online, and 77% have similar expectations for in-store purchases. The same report highlights that 85% of shoppers value speedy delivery as a significant factor when choosing where to buy online. High-profile cyber incidents across the sector have increased pressure on businesses to meet these demands and maintain consumer trust.

"Price is no longer the only deciding factor for success in retail. The real differentiators are speed, quality of service and seamless experiences," said Michael Dyson, VP of Sales, APAC, SOTI.

Device management

Simplified device lockdown capabilities are now available for retail teams using shared devices such as handheld scanners, tablets, and mobile point-of-sale terminals. Retail IT can quickly configure tailored user experiences using a drag-and-drop system. Access is restricted to essential apps and tools, with integrated authentication through QR codes or NFC tags enabling faster device handovers and shift changes. Device security is enhanced with real-time monitoring that can immediately restrict device access, for example, if a device leaves a designated area.

Operational insight

The updated platform provides deeper visibility into how retail devices are used. By analysing usage and device activity, IT managers can detect uncharged or underperforming devices and address issues with label printers that could cause delays. The data aims to help decision-makers identify and remove operational bottlenecks, particularly during periods of high demand.

Warehouse oversight

Retail operations can now make use of indoor location camera streaming, where live camera feeds linked to floorplans support real-time monitoring of important areas. This capability is intended to help staff quickly locate misplaced items, investigate delays in restocking, and address problems with automated systems in storerooms or warehouses.

AI assistance

An artificial intelligence-powered assistant, Stella, is now included for IT administrators. Stella supports voice commands and simplified dialogue to access device insights and troubleshoot issues within retail environments. This feature is designed to free up IT resources for higher-priority work and ensure retail teams focus on customer service.

Integration and support

The integration of SOTI XSight with ServiceNow extends diagnostic tools such as remote control, screen recording, device snapshots, live chat, and screen annotation into existing IT workflows. These capabilities aim to accelerate IT support, reduce device downtime, and limit disruptions to frontline staff. In addition, SOTI Connect now supports Epson receipt printers, allowing retailers to manage and configure printers remotely. This enhancement is intended to support smoother customer transactions and minimise delays at checkout.

"Security and operational resilience are now business-critical for retailers. When devices fail or data is exposed, customer trust and revenue are at risk. The latest updates to the SOTI ONE Platform give retailers the confidence to protect their operations, while empowering frontline staff to deliver the speed, reliability and seamless service customers expect," said Dyson.
