FYI, this story is more than a year old

Australian software giant TechnologyOne has ushered in a new era with the appointment of Chandan Potukuchi as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Potukuchi, a seasoned technology executive and former Senior Vice President at SAP, will report to CEO Ed Chung and guide the company's overall technology strategy.

TechnologyOne has a 35-year history and Potukuchi is only the second CTO, succeeding founder Adrian di Marco. This appointment comes amidst the company's significant growth, particularly in the UK, where their unique software implementation approach is challenging multinational competitors.

CEO Ed Chung expressed the importance of the CTO role: "Our customers build their businesses on our technology and stay with us for the long term. Ensuring we add value today and in the future, in a rapidly changing environment, is critical." He adds, "With this newly-created CTO role, we're excited to continue to grow our leadership team as we evolve and scale as one of the largest Australian-owned technology companies."

Potukuchi, whose career includes leading global engineering teams and managing SAP's Cloud Services portfolio, will unite TechnologyOne's innovation, product, and technology teams under his leadership. He brings to the role an unconventional background, having initially trained as an architect and established a design firm before transitioning to the software industry in 2002.

On his appointment, Potukuchi says, "I am delighted to be joining TechnologyOne and its visionary team that is dedicated to transforming our customers' lives through innovative technology... I see fantastic possibilities to using technology to make our clients' lives better."

Australia's largest Software as a Service (SaaS) provider, TechnologyOne, has invested over $500 million of its annual revenue into research and development over the last decade, leading to four transformations of its code line. Chung added, "Ten years ago, we set out to reinvent ourselves as a SaaS company...This year we expect to see our 1000th customer successfully make the journey to SaaS, and we will turn our attention to TechnologyOne's fifth generation."
