Varonis unveils AI identity protection for Salesforce Agentforce
Varonis has announced the launch of AI identity protection capabilities for Salesforce Agentforce aimed at helping organisations manage AI agent risk and secure sensitive data.
The latest feature set is designed to provide IT and security teams with comprehensive visibility and control over the data that AI agents, created through Salesforce Agentforce, can access, as well as to monitor the actions these agents perform.
David Bass, Executive Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer at Varonis, commented on the release:
"AI agents are identities that can process and analyze data at lightning speed. We're providing a unified view into AI agents and how they interact with data, while giving customers the ability to right-size permissions automatically."
Businesses are increasingly using Agentforce to develop and deploy AI agents that can automate and perform a range of critical operational tasks. The integration with Varonis seeks to connect AI agent identities with data sensitivity, permissions, and activity. This connection is intended to assist businesses in aligning AI agent capabilities with internal data governance and security policies.
Functionality overview
According to Varonis, the new features offer several practical tools for security teams and system administrators. Customers are now able to automatically discover and catalogue all AI agents built on Agentforce, including metadata such as assigned topics, available actions, and their deployment status within the organisation.
The unified view provided by Varonis encompasses data sensitivity, permission levels, and the record of agent activity. This arrangement is intended to simplify auditing processes by displaying which AI agents have access to particular types of sensitive information and tracking the actions that have been performed on that data.
Varonis has also introduced an automated process to impose least-privilege access for AI agents. By analysing prompts and responses handled by the AI agents, Varonis can identify where sensitive data is exposed or policy violations may occur and will then automatically right-size access permissions so agents operate only within their intended scope.
Assessment and availability
Organisations interested in evaluating their security posture with respect to Salesforce Agentforce can request a Varonis Data Risk Assessment.
The Varonis for Agentforce solution is available on Salesforce's AppExchange marketplace, enabling Salesforce customers to access the tool within their existing environment.
Market context
The adoption of AI agents in enterprise environments is reportedly accelerating as businesses seek to automate decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. However, these agents, by virtue of their privileged access and automated nature, can introduce new identity-related risks, particularly with regard to sensitive data exposure and potential policy breaches.
By linking AI agent inventory management, unified data visibility, and automatic enforcement of access controls, Varonis aims to support organisations in managing these risks while continuing to leverage AI capabilities for business-critical functions.
