Arctic Wolf finalises acquisition of BlackBerry’s Cylance

Today

Arctic Wolf has completed the acquisition of BlackBerry's Cylance, integrating its endpoint security capabilities into the Aurora platform.

The acquisition was finalised following a definitive agreement made on 15 December 2024 between the two companies. This strategic move allows Arctic Wolf to enhance its open-XDR platform with Cylance's advanced security technology.

John Giamatteo, Chief Executive Officer of BlackBerry, commented, "We are pleased to have successfully closed this pivotal transaction for BlackBerry and look forward to continuing our relationship with Arctic Wolf as a customer, as a reseller of the portfolio to our large government customers, and as a shareholder of this dynamic, growing company."

Through this acquisition, Arctic Wolf intends to address the growing demand for comprehensive security solutions by integrating detection, response, threat intelligence, and analytics functions. This integration supports businesses in improving their operations and security posture, ultimately aiming at eliminating cyber risks.

The merger will see Arctic Wolf incorporating 400 new employees and a substantial number of customers into what they refer to as the "Wolf Pack".

Nick Schneider, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arctic Wolf, highlighted the significance of the acquisition, stating, "Today, the launch of Aurora Endpoint Security represents a transformative step in how organisations adopt endpoint protection. By integrating Cylance's advanced AI-driven capabilities into the Aurora Platform, and combined with the expertise of one of the world's largest commercial security operations centres (SOCs), Arctic Wolf's Aurora Endpoint Security offerings help organisations reduce risk exposure with better prevention and threat detection, eliminate alert fatigue and false positives, and build stronger, more resilient defences."

The newly launched Aurora Endpoint Security portfolio aims to provide AI-driven prevention and detection capabilities directly at the endpoint level. This portfolio is integrated into Arctic Wolf's Aurora Platform, benefiting from insights gathered through security observations and customer interactions.

Aurora Endpoint Security includes four tailored solutions: Aurora Protect, Aurora Endpoint Defense, Aurora Managed Endpoint Defense On-Demand, and Aurora Managed Endpoint Defense, designed to cater to a variety of customer needs.
