AWS on Cloud9 after IDE acquisition
Amazon Web Services has purchased Cloud9, a cloud-based coding platform that allows collaboration and integrated development environments.
Cloud9 CEO and founder Ruben Daniels says in a blog post that "We're excited to let you, our users and customers, be among the first to learn that we have been acquired by Amazon! We will be joining the Amazon Web Services family, and we're looking forward to working together on terrific customer offerings for the future".
Daniels goes on to reassure investors that Cloud9 is a safe investment platform and the company will continue to operate normally, as they work with Ace Open source communities to develop services for customers.
Daniels believes that the partnership with AWS will allow Cloud9 to add more services for its customers.
"On the occasion of this amazing milestone for Cloud9, I'd like to take this moment to express our appreciation for the trust you've placed in Cloud9 over the years and to say how excited we are at this new beginning and the opportunity to bring you more and more value under the AWS umbrella. Thanks so much for your business, and stay tuned for even more great things to come," Daniels says.
Cloud9 was founded in 2010, and has since been backed by product development firm Atlassian, as well as venture capital provider Accel. The company is based in the United States and Europe.
