Datacom & 2degrees form ICT partnership to boost services

Thu, 5th Jun 2025

Datacom and 2degrees have announced a new strategic partnership, naming each other as preferred suppliers in a move that aims to deliver a full suite of ICT services to Enterprise and Public Sector customers across New Zealand.

The agreement marks a formalisation of a previously informal collaboration, enabling the companies to jointly offer managed IT services, networking, cloud, cyber security, and mobile solutions under a unified approach.

Mark Callander, Chief Executive of 2degrees, said the partnership builds on a foundation of previous joint success and is expected to strengthen both companies' ability to compete and serve customers more comprehensively.

"Both organisations have some amazing strengths. If you look at 2degrees, we bring tremendous infrastructure, both fixed and mobile, to market," Callander said.

"Datacom has some serious credibility in the managed IT services digital engineering and security space, while also having a fully vendor agnostic cloud offering that enables customers to tap into global cloud providers or leverage Datacom's own private cloud offering, which is supported through its four local data centres. Rather than try to fill in the gaps in our offering, it's far better to partner with the best in class."

He added that the partnership would appeal to customers looking for integrated solutions.

"It's an exciting announcement for us, and one I am sure will lead to many account wins in the near future. Datacom and 2degrees' individual strengths will be elevated through this partnership, and that will be very attractive to the Enterprise and Public Sector IT decision makers," he said.

Datacom New Zealand Managing Director Justin Gray echoed these sentiments, describing the partnership as a strategic step to offer more complete services to organisations seeking end-to-end ICT support.

"What this allows us to do is partner on opportunities from organisations looking for a complete set of services. It's simple, but smart, and I am confident it will help us both win business, but more importantly, provide amazing services to customers," Gray said.

He emphasised the benefits of the collaboration for public and private sector clients, particularly around digital transformation and innovation.

"A preferred mobile and IT services partnership between Datacom and 2degrees represents the coming together of two organisations that share a mutual goal of bringing innovative technology solutions to customers in the Enterprise and Public Sector," he said.

"By combining Datacom's expertise in IT services, cloud and cyber security with 2degrees' telecommunications and core network capabilities, this collaboration will drive digital transformation and deliver real outcomes for local businesses."

As part of the arrangement, Datacom has named 2degrees as its preferred mobile service provider, strengthening the ties between the two companies.

Callander noted that this step aligns with both companies' market strategy and reinforces their shared commitment to offering alternative, locally driven solutions.

"This win is a strong testament to our shared local market strategy as we both continue to challenge and disrupt the New Zealand landscape," he said.

The partnership comes at a time when New Zealand organisations are increasingly looking for integrated and flexible digital service offerings that can meet their needs across IT infrastructure, connectivity, and security. By joining forces, Datacom and 2degrees position themselves as a single point of contact for enterprise clients seeking a reliable and future-ready ICT partner.
