DC begins expansion talks with NZ resellers
Recession? What recession? That was the sentiment expressed by Distribution Central Sales and Marketing Director Nick Verykios at the outset of his 14-day New Zealand "growth strategy" road trip, which kicked off on Monday.
Verykios has flown in from Sydney to buddy-up with New Zealand Country Manager Richard Crabb to discuss market expansion plans with each of their resellers.
"I keep hearing talk of this double dip recession that New Zealand is supposedly heading into, but we're not being affected at all. Business is booming for us. We're in rapid growth mode," said Verykios, who attributed much of its booming business to data security.
"Resellers want to know how to fund growth, how to manage their investments and the speed and breadth of their investments. What's turning our resellers on and capturing their imaginations? We know they're excited by the apps they can put over the network, like security and voice."
The distributor's upward climb is bolstered by the recent unveiling of a new warehouse in Auckland and the launch of a new office in Singapore, run by Aussie-expat Fleur Glover, who joined as ASEAN Sales Director in January.
Glover is currently looking to grow her team to four members of staff.
Here in Auckland, new hire Michael Ennis has just joined Distribution Central's unified communications division, Unity Systems, from his former role as an Avaya specialist at Corcord ICT.
Ennis will work across a portfolio that includes Avaya, NET and Telstrom.
Verykios told The Channel last year that the company would implement its Australian model of business across New Zealand from August 1st, 2010.
