GoBolt partners with Google Cloud for a greener supply chain
GoBolt has partnered with Google Cloud to modernise its supply chain network, aiming to increase efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Since initiating their partnership in 2020, Toronto-based GoBolt has experienced a 7,600% increase in delivery volume.
In 2024, the company was managing over 50,000 last-mile appointments daily, with more than 40% being completed using electric vehicles.
GoBolt's collaboration with Google Cloud integrates multiple technologies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions. Among these technologies is Looker, which GoBolt utilises to build dashboards and analytics tools for tracking delivery performance and identifying business growth opportunities, including creating Scope 3 emission reports for customers.
With Google Cloud's secure platform, GoBolt manages customer data with high availability, scalability, and robust security, supporting its strategic growth.
The Google Play Console is used by GoBolt for the Android version of its driver app, which is a key component of its logistics platform. The app provides drivers with real-time delivery instructions and route optimisation, ensuring timely service and enhancing customer satisfaction. The console also facilitates efficient updates for the app, which directly impacts operational excellence.
GoBolt employs Google's Geocoding API to optimise delivery routes using latitude and longitude data. This approach helps minimise the distance travelled and reduce delivery emissions, with a reported reduction in travel distances by nearly 20%.
Additionally, GoBolt uses the Google Kubernetes Engine to manage its containerised applications, achieving flexibility and scalability in infrastructure deployment. This supports GoBolt's operations across three business lines and extends over 10 regions in North America.
For data analysis, GoBolt leverages Google's BigQuery, a managed data analytics platform that extracts valuable insights for strategic decision-making. The platform is designed to maximise data utility and is multi-engine, multi-format, and multi-cloud, assisting GoBolt in sustainable growth planning.
Google Workspace, incorporating Gemini, helps streamline collaboration and enhance productivity within GoBolt by simplifying report generation and reducing administrative tasks. This contributes to increased operational efficiency across the company.
Farsad Nasseri, Country Manager of Google Cloud Canada, commented on the ongoing collaboration: "We're excited to continue our partnership with GoBolt as they leverage Google Cloud to drive efficiency and sustainability in the logistics space. By using our cutting-edge technologies, GoBolt is able to not only optimise their operations but also make a significant impact on reducing their carbon footprint."
Mark Ang, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder at GoBolt, remarked: "Our collaboration with Google Cloud is a crucial step in our mission to build the largest sustainable supply chain network. The innovative tools and infrastructure provided by Google Cloud are empowering us to enhance our operations, provide more value to our merchants, and significantly reduce our environmental impact."
The partnership highlights GoBolt's commitment to using modern technology to improve operational practices, reduce its carbon emissions, and ensure the provision of efficient logistics services.
