HDS channel director predicts growth
Tue, 1st Jul 2008
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Steve Kelly, Hitachi Data Systems’ newly appointed Channel Director, told The Channel that unstructured growth represents the next frontier for the storage vendor.  “Enterprise products are almost a misnomer now.  Mid-tier customers are needing that scalability now for their infrastructures,” he said.  “The potential has not yet been realised.”For partners, getting up to speed in terms of technology and capability is critical, as the discussions customers are wanting to have are changing.  HDS does not currently have a distributor in New Zealand, but NZ General Manger Brent Wilkinson stated that the vendor will announce a distributor soon.  The distributor will provide logistics, support and stock mainly for HDS’ volume products. Wilkinson has plans to double HDS’ business in New Zealand in 2008, in terms of both revenue and people.  “The storage market and the SMS 100 allow us to address a much larger segment of the market,” he stated.  “There is very little channel conflict; we’re far from saturation point.”
