Hitachi Vantara & BMC Software announce strategic alliance
Hitachi Vantara and BMC Software have formed an alliance to advance innovation and optimisation in mainframe and open systems environments.
This collaboration will see the integration of Hitachi Vantara's storage platforms with BMC's software solutions, paving the way for enterprises to enhance their IT operations and optimise data value. Addressing the challenges associated with hybrid cloud technologies, the alliance aims to offer solutions for data management, security, and operational efficiency challenges.
A Forrester study underscores the urgency of such modernisation, citing that 66% of organisations are updating their mainframe infrastructure and 96% of IT decision-makers expect significant benefits. By unifying strategies across on-premises and cloud infrastructures, concerns such as data security and large-scale data processing can be addressed, all while reducing operational costs and maintaining application integrity.
"By establishing this strategic partnership with BMC, we are addressing the evolving demands of hybrid cloud solutions and supporting our clients' journey toward innovation," said Greg Bucyk, Vice President of Strategic Partners and Alliances at Hitachi Vantara. "This collaboration enables organisations to maximise the value of their data, turning challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth and upgraded operational efficiency."
The partnership promises several customer benefits such as cost reduction, enhanced security, improved automation, data monetisation, and increased simplicity. By optimising resource usage and reducing reliance on legacy infrastructures, IT expenses can be alleviated. Advanced security measures will protect data from cyber threats, while automation tools will streamline workflows, thus focusing on high-value projects.
Key to this is the integration of the BMC AMI mainframe software portfolio with Hitachi Vantara's Virtual Storage Platform One and Hitachi Content Platform.
BMC's mainframe software offers features to streamline operations and lower operational costs. BMC AMI Cloud, BMC AMI Security, BMC AMI Ops, and BMC AMI DevX are tailored outcome-driven solutions that enhance efficiency and automation for hybrid cloud environments.
John McKenny, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intelligent Z Optimisation and Transformation at BMC, remarked, "This partnership helps improve delivery of innovative, practical solutions that help organisations maximize their data. Hitachi Vantara and BMC's alliance combines Hitachi Vantara's leading data infrastructure with BMC AMI's software expertise to unlock mainframe potential. In particular, we expect that it will accelerate our clients' ability to secure and future-proof their mainframe environments in the hybrid cloud reality which they face."
Analysts have recognised the potential of the collaboration with Steve White, Program Vice President for IDC's Worldwide Channels and Alliances Research, stating, "Integrating mainframe data is essential for success in today's hybrid cloud environments, yet many organisations face challenges like outdated applications and security concerns."
"The partnership between Hitachi Vantara and BMC helps address these issues by offering efficient, low-risk solutions for modernisation. This collaboration enhances IT systems and allows organisations to tap into cloud benefits more quickly, supporting innovation and helping businesses maintain a competitive edge in a changing market."
