IBM appoints Hans Dekkers as GM of Asia Pacific

IBM has announced the appointment of Hans Dekkers as General Manager of IBM Asia Pacific. Effective immediately, he succeeds Paul Burton in the role.

Mr Dekkers will oversee all strategic and operational responsibilities concerning IBM's sales, marketing, services, technology, and delivery operations across a broad region. This encompasses Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Korea, India, South Asia, and the Greater China region, including Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Dekkers was based in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he served as IBM’s General Manager for North, Central and Eastern Europe. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously lived and worked in China, Singapore, ANZ, and India. He has also engaged with Indonesia, South Korea, and the wider ASEAN region during his career, providing him with a thorough familiarity with the Asia Pacific market.

In his executive role, Mr Dekkers is expected to further IBM’s growth strategy within the Asia Pacific region, with a particular focus on Hybrid Cloud and AI. His deep understanding of the sector and the region is seen as a valuable asset for the company as it aims to support clients in their transformation journeys.
