FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ingram Micro has inked a distribution deal with video surveillance vendor Hikvision in a move the distributor says provides more revenue opportunities for resellers – and the chance to order a complete security solution from a single distributor.

David Charlton, Ingram Micro Physical Security Division general manager ANZ, says Hikvision are global market-leaders in video surveillance and solutions for security and boast impressive growth both globally and locally.

“The security and surveillance market is evolving rapidly as solutions move from analogue equipment to IP-based solutions,” Charlton says.

“Security solutions complement our existing portfolio of networking, server, storage, UPS, monitor and software products, which not only enables our customers to achieve new revenue opportunities but also allows them to order a complete solution from one distribution partner,” he adds.

Globally the distributor has been ramping up its presence in the physical security market.

In Australia and New Zealand the security market is rapidly growing, with the Australian Security Industries Association putting the hardware, installation and monitoring market at around AU$2.3 billion.

Hikvision says the deal complements its existing channels and facilitates greater penetration into the IT and project space.

Michael Bates, Hikvision's Oceania sales director, says the company achieved 95% growth last year and expects 80%+ growth this year.

“[The distribution deal] is an important strategic move to help us sustain that growth over the next few years,” Bates says.
