Omnissa named IDC MarketScape leader in four UEM areas

Sat, 27th Dec 2025

Omnissa has secured a leader position in four separate IDC MarketScape assessments for unified endpoint management, covering general UEM software, Apple devices, frontline and IoT devices, and Windows device management.

The recognition places the Mountain View-based digital workspace specialist in the leaders category across a broad span of device management segments. IDC assessed vendors in Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management Software, Unified Endpoint Management Software for Apple Devices, Unified Endpoint Management Software for Frontline/IoT Devices, and Client Endpoint Management Software for Windows Device Management.

Unified endpoint management platforms sit at the centre of many organisations' efforts to run and secure laptops, mobiles and connected devices under a single console. The category has expanded in recent years as enterprises add IoT, rugged and virtual endpoints to established PC and smartphone fleets.

Omnissa markets its Workspace ONE product as a single environment for managing multiple operating systems and form factors. The company positions this as part of a longer-term shift towards autonomous workspaces built on self-configuring, self-healing and self-securing environments.

"We see this recognition as a validation of our focus on delivering unmatched breadth and depth across endpoint management," said Hemant Sahani, Vice President of Product Management, Omnissa.

Omnissa said Workspace ONE manages iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, XR and IoT devices. The company said it supports frontline workers as well as office-based staff.

"Workspace ONE helps customers manage iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, XR, and IoT devices with deep, OS-specific capabilities that support both frontline and knowledge workers. Combined with rich endpoint data, built-in AI, and an open partner ecosystem, customers can simplify operations, strengthen security, and move confidently toward an Autonomous Workspace," said Sahani.

Cross-platform coverage

In the core Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management Software assessment, IDC placed Omnissa in the leaders category. The analyst firm cited Workspace ONE UEM's broad platform coverage and its support for modern, legacy and emerging endpoint types.

The assessment highlighted full life-cycle management for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, and a growing range of IoT and ruggedised devices. IDC also pointed to automation and AI-driven management features that it said reduce operational overhead and manual work for IT teams.

The report said Workspace ONE UEM "delivers broad cross-platform coverage and supports modern, legacy, and emerging endpoint types - including full life-cycle management for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, and an expanding range of IoT and ruggedized devices."

IDC noted the product's emphasis on automation and AI-led management. It said this helps organisations move towards self-configuring, self-healing and self-securing workspaces.

The assessment also commented on Omnissa's integration strategy. IDC said the company promotes an open ecosystem and links to major enterprise platforms and endpoint security tools. It highlighted coexistence with tools such as Microsoft's System Centre Configuration Manager, ServiceNow and various identity providers.

Apple device focus

Omnissa also achieved leader status in IDC's Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management Software for Apple Devices assessment. The report said Workspace ONE UEM offers comprehensive same-day support for Apple macOS, iOS and visionOS releases.

According to IDC, the product includes full declarative device management as well as device and profile configurations. It also covers software and life-cycle automation and compliance enforcement for Apple environments.

The report cited advanced integrations with Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager. It also referenced platform single sign-on features that allow organisations to federate enterprise identity and streamline application access.

IDC said automated update management and support for rapid security responses offer additional assurance for enterprise and regulated users. It noted day-zero compatibility for major Apple operating system updates.

Frontline and IoT

In IDC's assessment of UEM software for frontline and IoT devices, Omnissa again appeared in the leaders category. The analyst firm pointed to Workspace ONE UEM's management, automation and analytics for ruggedised hardware, including barcode scanners, printers, digital signage and point-of-sale devices.

The report said the product supports equipment from major manufacturers such as Zebra, Honeywell and Samsung. IDC said this extends UEM concepts into logistics, retail and industrial settings.

The assessment highlighted shared device workflows and custom launchers for shift-based environments. IDC said these functions enable onboarding, rapid user authentication and secure device hand-offs where several staff members use the same hardware across a working day.

Windows management

In the Worldwide Client Endpoint Management Software for Windows Device Management report, IDC evaluated Omnissa's approach to PCs, servers and supported IoT endpoints. The report said Workspace ONE UEM manages Windows PCs, physical and virtual servers and some IoT devices through modern mobile device management methods and traditional management approaches.

IDC said the platform supports co-management alongside SCCM and staged migration scenarios. That design reflects enterprise requirements for hybrid environments during transitions from older management tools.

The analyst firm highlighted AI-driven automation in the Windows assessment. It said the Freestyle Orchestrator feature and intelligent agents streamline onboarding, configuration, compliance and remediation for Windows endpoints and reduce manual intervention by IT teams.

Market outlook

IDC said demand for simplified control across diverse devices remains strong. The researcher noted growing complexity as organisations mix employee-owned hardware, corporate fleets and proliferating IoT sensors.

"Across all of our evaluations, we continue to see organizations looking for ways to simplify operations and improve security across diverse device environments," said Phil Hochmuth, IDC. "Omnissa's position reflects its strengths in cross-platform support, automation, analytics, and integration capabilities that help organizations manage complexity more effectively and support modern device ecosystems."

Omnissa said it plans further work on autonomous workspace concepts. The company said it will continue to expand AI features, automation workflows and ecosystem integrations across Workspace ONE.
