STACK secures whopping $1.3bn for global expansion
STACK Infrastructure has announced the successful procurement of a whopping $1.3 billion (USD) in financing to support the continued expansion of its global data centre portfolio.
The financing package includes a significant portion allocated to green construction debt refinancing. The financial boost will enable STACK to further broaden its rapidly expanding international presence, particularly through the development of large-scale shell and turnkey campuses.
So far, STACK Infrastructure has secured over $12 billion for its extensive portfolio of scalable campuses across multiple regions. The recent financing round features $506 million designated specifically for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. A key project in Melbourne, Australia, will benefit from these funds, facilitating the integration of sustainable solutions and improved operational efficiency within a 180MW campus. The Melbourne data centre will incorporate an on-site solar array for renewable energy generation, a water-efficient cooling system, and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, aligning with STACK's commitment to sustainable design principles.
Preet Gona, CEO of STACK APAC, commented on the development, stating, "This series of financing not only emphasizes our commitment to sustainable practices but also highlights our strategic vision and leadership in the industry. Persistence in securing capital for responsible expansion strengthens ongoing investor and client confidence in STACK's capabilities across key global markets."
In addition to the investments in the APAC region, significant funds have been earmarked for the expansion of STACK's operations within North America and the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) regions. Specifically, $350 million in green financing will facilitate the expansion of a 150MW campus in Manassas, Virginia. Another $301 million will support further advancements at a 200MW campus in Loudoun County, Virginia. Additionally, $100 million has been allocated to refinance construction debt, bolstering the financial stability of a 420MW campus in Prince William County, Virginia. The EMEA region will benefit from $60 million in construction financing aimed at expanding a site in Milan, Italy to 25MW.
STACK emphasises the importance of responsible site selection for its data centre campuses, ensuring that new developments enhance local economies and communities while advancing technological capabilities. The company's strategic growth trajectory is evident in its global presence across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. By providing scalable and reliable infrastructure, STACK supports cloud providers and innovators in navigating the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Key scaling opportunities highlighted by STACK include a 48MW Santa Clara data centre with immediate available space and a 56MW Toronto campus spanning 19 acres, featuring an existing 8MW data centre with 48MW expansion capacity.
Other notable projects include a 200MW campus in Portland with 24MW of available capacity, a 48MW build-to-suit opportunity in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, a 58MW data centre campus in New Albany, Ohio, and a 250MW campus in Central Phoenix with a dedicated on-site substation.
And in the APAC region, a 72MW campus in Osaka, Japan, a 48MW Seoul data centre, and a 30MW data centre campus in Stockholm with 18MW under development mark significant expansion points for the infrastructure provider.
