Tandberg Data sets sights on NZ storage market

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Tandberg Data holds a strong hand in the computer data storage industry, and plans to launch across New Zealand following the Ingram Micro Showcase last week.

The global company, headquartered in Germany, was displaying the BizNAS D400, a share storage device aimed at SMBs, remote offices, departments and workgroups.

Shipments and acceptance of the Tandberg Data BizNAS, released in April of this year, have far exceeded original global expectations.

"This is a true blue back-up recovery matchbox which is ideal for backup and recovery," Ashok Kumar, sales director, South Asia, Tandberg Data, told TechDay at the event.

"Essentially it is the perfect SMB solution across all verticals for both Mac and Windows environments.

"With an embedded OS Linux space, the product is 100% manufactured by Tandberg Data and provides a total solution built for professional applications."

The BizNAS family of self-protecting, network-attached storage (NAS) appliances provides fast and easy deployment of 1TB to 16TB of expandable, fault-tolerant storage for file sharing, server virtualisation, disaster recovery, and data protection.

Following the reaction to the product, Kumar told TechDay a move into the New Zealand market is next on the list, with the Ingram Micro Showcase the first step in making this happen

"This is the beginning of the road," he said. "In only a few hours at our stall we've experienced a high level of interest, with over 40 resellers coming to see our products.

"We have a solid plan to launch across New Zealand and will be making this happen in the immediate future."
