FYI, this story is more than a year old

If you’re after networking, communications and cabling products then Computer Dynamics is your one-stop-shop.  They have been actively distributing products to the New Zealand channel for 19 years from their Auckland and Christchurch operations.Peter Rakich, managing director, says one of the company’s key strengths is its diverse product mix which ranges from entry level offerings and SOHO solutions through to high end SME and enterprise product lines. “We have been able to provide a product migration path for the end customer.  This means that as the end customer’s requirements have changed we have been able to offer an appropriate solution from within our stable of over 2,500 product lines” he says.  “We can maintain leading  edge technology product offerings because of the strong vendor relationships we have.   Access to vendor product road maps and development plans provides us with powerful insights in the future direction of many of the technologies we distribute” “The reality is that no single vendor offers an all-in-one solution and this allows us to identify best of breed solutions and product ranges that ensure we have the appropriate product lines to meet the demands of our customers.”In fact Rakich says this approach suits the integrators and resellers that use Computer Dynamics as the company doesn’t force its customers to buy complete solutions. When it comes to market dynamics Rakich sees many SMEs continuing to implement increasing levels of technology and associated with that is the need for some basic infrastructure investment in products such as server cabinets, structured cabling solutions, KVM solutions and UPS and power protection products.  “The infrastructure products are largely vendor and platform independent so the solution largely future proofs the SME’s investment whilst also supplying an enhanced network infrastructure solution.  We have a wide product offering which allows us to offer an exact match to the end users requirements”  With small businesses dominating the New Zealand landscape, Rakich does not see demand decreasing any time soon.  “In fact, newer technologies have allowed SME’’s to automate processes that were previously the domain of only the large corporates.”However Rakich cautions that a reality check is needed with the implementation of some technologies.  “Take wireless networking solutions, for example, where its use is becoming increasingly widespread.  Some entry level and SOHO wireless solutions are being deployed in environments which require greater coverage or higher levels of sophistication.   The poor performance or non performance of the solution generally leads to its abandonment.  The industry knowledge and the wireless product offerings are changing fast and we see this situation will improve over time”Rakich says that as the demand for technology has increased, so has the requirement for appropriate solutions and is proud that Computer Dynamics can work with the channel to meet those needs.
