Devart launches new dbForge Studio 7.0 for SQL Server

Fri, 3rd Jan 2025

Devart has announced the newest version of its database management tools, dbForge Studio for SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Tools 7.0.

The latest release includes updated features aimed at assisting software and database developers, data architects, database administrators, analysts, and other professionals in managing complex database tasks. The suite aims to facilitate faster and more efficient database development, improved code quality, and seamless cloud integration.

At the core of the updates is dbForge SQL Complete, an add-in for SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Visual Studio, which now features intelligent code completion, customizable script formatting, and advanced debugging capabilities. Additionally, there is a significant update to SQL Tools, designed to automate monotonous tasks and simplify intricate workflows.

Devart's Head of Engineering, Oleksii Honcharov, stated, "This release raises the bar for what database management tools can do. The features we've included in dbForge Studio 7.0 make everything from optimizing scripts to automating tedious operations easier. The main goal is to make it easier for users to produce high-quality results without unnecessary complexity."

The new version includes the T-SQL Code Analyzer, which aids in detecting inefficiencies within T-SQL scripts, ensuring adherence to coding standards, and enhancing performance.

Advanced Code Completion now supports smart suggestions for GROUP BY statements, graph functions, and advanced syntax such as COLUMN MASTER KEY, making coding more efficient.

Script Generation Updates include wrapped CRUD templates in named regions, with the ability to add DML triggers, security permissions, and authorisations when required.

Automation enhancements now allow automatic detection of invalid database objects, saving command-line tasks, and the creation of schema comparison reports, which help to save time.

The Database Explorer has been updated to offer more efficient management of database objects, with options to save filter settings or drop destination objects rapidly.

Schema Compare Updates bring advancements such as the "Show Ignored Differences" feature, support for sensitivity classification, and an "Issues" page in the Synchronization Wizard.

Improvements in Source Control now support XML and HASH indexes for Azure SQL, persisted columns, and introduce a new "Hide empty columns" option to simplify comparisons.

The Data Editor and Search Tools have been optimised to quicken editing processes with options to add unique identifiers swiftly, and search results can now be exported to CSV, enhancing reporting capabilities.

Data Generator Improvements help with better organisation, as generated data files now come with timestamps.

Visualisation and user experience have been overhauled with updates to the Chart Designer and database diagrams, making the analysis and presentation of data more intuitive.

With ApsaraDB's native support, dbForge Studio for SQL Server 7.0 offers seamless integration with Alibaba Cloud, catering to developers working within multi-cloud environments.

The new release allows application startup time tracking, offering insight into studio opening times.

Devart emphasises the suite's ability to address the increasing demands of database management, saying it can speed up development and improve code quality, all while enhancing database reliability with its seamless integration features.
