The company has licensed a virus detection engine from Sophos that will be integrated into its Unified Security Gateway (USG) 3.0.

According to FaceTime, their USG 3.0 is the first secure web gateway to combine the content monitoring, management and securing of Web 2.0 applications, such as social networks and instant messaging, with URL filtering, malware and web anti-virus protection.

“Web 2.0 applications are making their way into enterprise networks, and the proliferation of viruses and malware propagated through the Internet and increasingly, popular social media sites presents a huge security concern for IT managers,” said Nishant Jadhav, Director of Business Development for FaceTime.

The release of the USG featuring Sophos is available to all FaceTime authorised partners from today.
