Huawei Cloud unveils AI tools for media revolution at summit
The Huawei Cloud Media & Entertainment Summit took place in Amsterdam today, bringing together industry leaders from around the world.
The summit emphasised the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming the media and entertainment (M&E) industry, fostering an ecosystem aimed at achieving a more dynamic and lucrative future.
Jacqueline Shi, President of Huawei Cloud Global Marketing and Sales Service, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the revolutionary impact of AI on the media industry. She noted the redefinition of the entire content chain, spanning creation, distribution, and consumption. To facilitate this transformation, Huawei Cloud offers a comprehensive solution comprising advanced cloud computing, global cloud infrastructure KooVerse, and state-of-the-art AI. MetaStudio, a digital content production pipeline, aims to enhance efficiency, intelligence, and security within media networks. "Together with its global customers, Huawei Cloud will open a new chapter for the M&E industry," Shi stated.
Jamy Lyu, President of Huawei Cloud Media Services, presented a keynote titled "Building AI-Native Media Infrastructure for a Smarter Media Industry," unveiling the newly developed Huawei Cloud E³ Media Services. These services aim to enhance efficiency, user experience, and evolution within the industry. According to Lyu, the service aims to boost content production efficiency, redefine content distribution for an improved user experience, and foster robust monetisation strategies.
Lyu pointed out that maturing AI technologies are reshaping the M&E industry, with cloud and AI revolutionising content production. He elaborated on MetaStudio's capabilities, which include AI virtual human creation, AI video translation retaining original voices, and AIGC-based video rerendering. "Virtual humans created on MetaStudio reduce the short video production cycle from days to minutes," he explained. Furthermore, these virtual humans can communicate in over 20 languages with 98% lip-sync accuracy. AIGC-based video rerendering can cut animation production time from months to weeks, and AI video translation can now complete multilingual dubbing in days instead of months.
For a new user experience, Huawei Cloud's Low Latency Live (LLL) technology works in conjunction with its Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) to limit latency to within 500 milliseconds and reduce frame freezes by 10%. This enhancement allows viewers to engage in real-time interactions during livestreams, such as chatting together in a live room rather than merely liking videos. Huawei Cloud also uses AI recognition and codec technology to seamlessly integrate targeted advertisements into video playback without interruptions.
The new evolution aspect of Huawei Cloud media services involves leveraging industry expertise to empower customer monetisation. Qingdao Broadcasting System (QBS), one of China's most influential TV stations, has benefitted from a partnership with Huawei Cloud. This collaboration enables the efficient production of virtual avatar videos and helps the station evolve into an OTT platform, producing significant user and revenue growth.
During the summit, various M&E industry customers and partners shared their journeys and business innovations supported by Huawei Cloud. These real-world examples underscored the importance of this partnership in the global transformation of the M&E industry.
Before the summit concluded, Huawei Cloud, along with partners such as Ateme, Goose, Hares Media, Mobvoi, Haiper, Xsuperzone, Mangomolo, and Checksub, launched the M&E ecosystem alliance. This alliance is designed to promote resource sharing and complementary advantages in AIGC production and OTT services, driving collective growth and success within the industry.
Looking ahead, Huawei Cloud intends to continue advancing with its global customers and partners to help the M&E industry reach new heights.
