IDEMIA teams with Microsoft for Entra Verified ID onboarding
Fri, 23rd Feb 2024

DEMIA, a provider of biometric-based solutions, has achieved recognition as a Microsoft Entra Verified ID partner for remote onboarding. This milestone in IDEMIA's ongoing collaboration with Microsoft will allow users of Entra Verified ID to verify their identity using IDEMIA's innovative liveness and document verification technology.

The partnership aims to redefine the identity-proofing process, offering users reliable identity verification in a convenient, accessible, and secure manner. IDEMIA's advanced liveness and document verification technology ensure a seamless digital experience for users during remote onboarding and whenever they need to access systems and services.

This strategic alliance is expected to enhance the capabilities of Microsoft Entra Verified ID, streamlining onboarding processes for both organisations and employees through IDEMIA's cutting-edge technology. This collaboration further solidifies the relationship between IDEMIA and Microsoft.

The identity proofing process involves the use of biometric liveness and document capture through the users' smartphones. This creates a trusted user identity, giving organisations the confidence to proceed with onboarding. Once the user's identity is verified, they can utilise the credentials created during that proofing process and store them in the Microsoft Authenticator app. This then allows them to authenticate themselves in various other contexts, including employee, customer, and partner onboarding, secure access to high-value data and systems, and self-service account enrolment and recovery.

Ea Chaillioux, VP of Strategic Alliances, IDEMIA Public Security, stated, "We are proud and excited to strengthen and expand our collaboration with Microsoft, which will bring together IDEMIA's advanced identity solutions and longstanding industry expertise with Microsoft's Entra Verified ID capability. This will ensure both organisations and employees have access to trusted user identities."

"This collaboration enables users to authenticate themselves easily, accessibly, and securely and with a fully digital experience during the remote onboarding process and when they want to access systems and services."

Ankur Patel, Head of Product Entra Verified ID, Microsoft, said, "Entra Verified ID's Face Check compares a user's real-time facial image against a signed and trusted image embedded into a digital credential held by the user based on their government-issued ID (e.g. Driver's license) or credentials issued by an employer. We are pleased to partner with IDEMIA as one of the leading identity verification providers, so organisations can ensure only the correct person has access to apps and devices."

IDEMIA, through its three businesses, IDEMIA Secure Transactions, IDEMIA Public Security, and IDEMIA Smart Identity, has positioned itself as a trusted solution provider that facilitates simpler and safer ways to pay, connect, access, identify, travel and protect public places. Its extensive expertise in biometrics and cryptography has enabled it to develop outstanding technologies with an impactful, ethical, and socially responsible approach. The company, trusted by over 600 governmental organisations and more than 2,400 enterprises in over 180 countries, currently boasts a global team of almost 15,000 employees.
