Netskope enhances NewEdge for superior security & speed

Yesterday

Netskope has announced technological advancements for its NewEdge infrastructure, which supports the Netskope One platform.

The enhancements aim to address modern security and networking needs by providing improved scalability, resilience, and performance. NewEdge has been designed to allow rapid scaling, including adding data centres and increasing capacity to maintain constant performance. By fully controlling its infrastructure, Netskope ensures efficient services without relying on public clouds, avoiding added latency.

Pete Finalle, IDC Research Manager, Security & Trust, commented: "When it comes to delivering modern networking and security services, outcomes are what truly matter, and architecture is foundational to achieving good outcomes. It's not enough to have all the right security tools or network services or even that they've converged. It is the underlying architecture that allows customers to depend on both security efficacy and network performance, and Netskope delivers strong protection without sacrificing performance."

Chief Platform Officer Joe DePalo noted: "With NewEdge powering the Netskope One platform, Netskope customers never need to sacrifice network performance for security, and can count on a network that performs at carrier-grade levels. What our customers receive is a user experience that is indistinguishable from, and even improved over, direct-to-net for virtually any user on the planet. They can also be confident in dynamic control over traffic routing and using AI/ML to proactively mitigate experience issues—something other SASE vendors, which rely primarily on service delivery via public cloud networks, simply can't offer."

Recent updates to NewEdge include the addition of data centres in Calgary, Helsinki, Lisbon, and Prague, and expansion in cities such as Bogota, Jeddah, Osaka, and New York City. There are now over 75 NewEdge regions globally, and coverage has been extended to 220 countries and territories through more than 200 NewEdge Localization Zones. These zones enable a direct-to-net digital experience for users, regardless of their connected NewEdge data centre.

Netskope has become the world's 12th most active global Internet Exchange participant, standing alongside major web and cloud companies. This involvement helps ensure enhanced resilience and performance by offering more traffic paths. The NewEdge infrastructure has nearly 5,000 network adjacencies to over 750 unique Autonomous System Numbers, optimizing latency and user experience at both ends of the network.

The company has also introduced a Netskope Trust Portal, providing real-time insight into the state of the Netskope cloud for everyone, not just customers. An updated NewEdge Route Control is designed to ensure uninterrupted network traffic, dynamically optimizing routes for consistent performance.

Netskope is also advancing its Digital Experience Management (DEM) capabilities. This includes automated network diagnostics for instant detection of network path degradation, and AI-powered User Experience Root Cause Analysis to assist helpdesk teams in efficiently managing incidents. Integration with IT Service Management systems is included to enhance incident management.
