Tech Data appoints new VP as they continue their APAC expansion
Tue, 12th Dec 2017
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Global IT solutions provider Tech Data has appointed Samuel Poh to vice president of operations, Asia Pacific.

In this role, Poh will provide strategic direction and leadership for business operations across the region, focusing on growth and evolution of the business across the areas of customer service, process optimization and financial performance.

Poh is based in Singapore and reports directly to William Chu, president, Asia Pacific.

“Samuel is a strong addition to the Tech Data Asia Pacific leadership team,” says Chu.

“His proven ability in leading significant global augmentation and technology deployment projects across the region, paired with his vast experience in next-generation technologies, will enable him to drive growth, agility, and enhanced service levels for our valued channel partners.

Poh has more than 20 years of experience in the IT channel, which includes serving as managing partner at VMI Collective and holding senior leadership roles at both Cisco Systems (China) and Dimension Data Asia Pacific.

In September last year, Tech Data stepped into the Australian market with the acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions.

Their growth led to a rebranding this September, showing a commitment to becoming a unified global presence.

Poh's experience may prove valuable to Tech Data as it continues to grow and expand, particularly in light of the significant 21% drop in share prices in early September this year.

Tech Data has shown resilience since then, maintaining strong sales numbers and managing to regain about half of its lost value.

With Poh's strategic and outcome driven history, Tech Data's APAC presence could be a key factor in continuing to make up that loss.
