Valeo expands Google Cloud tie-up with Gemini rollout
Valeo has expanded its strategic partnership with Google Cloud to deploy Gemini for Workspace across its workforce and broaden its use of agentic AI. The move builds on a collaboration that has been in place since 2008.
The automotive supplier will roll out Gemini for Workspace to all 100,000 employees worldwide, making Google's large language model its standard workplace AI tool. It is also expanding its use of Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform in engineering and other business functions.
The agreement reflects a broader push by Valeo to apply generative AI to both routine office work and technical development. It follows the company's earlier use of Gemini Code Assist, which now accounts for more than 35% of its code generation.
Within engineering, Valeo has already developed several early AI agents. These include a Software Testing Assistant that creates test cases from the software design phase; a Software Development Life Cycle Assistant that reviews and proposes fixes in the continuous integration chain; a System Requirements Assistant that helps designers write and adapt system requirements; and a Product Validation Assistant that supports the drafting of validation test cases.
Valeo began exploring AI agents about 18 months ago and is now accelerating that work. Human oversight will remain part of the process to maintain quality and security.
Workplace rollout
For the wider workforce, Gemini for Workspace will be integrated into Google's collaboration software. Employees will use it to automate routine tasks, summarise documents, generate content and improve communication across Valeo's international operations.
The rollout spans a business that reported €20.9 billion in sales in 2025 and operates in 29 countries. Valeo will pair the deployment with a skills development programme to support adoption across different functions.
The system is also designed to protect confidential information and proprietary data. That issue is likely to remain central for industrial groups weighing broader use of generative AI in research, engineering and internal communications.
Engineering focus
Valeo's latest move reflects how automotive suppliers are seeking to embed AI more deeply in software and product development as vehicles become more software-defined. For a supplier active in electrification, driver assistance systems, lighting and software, development speed and internal collaboration have become increasingly important competitive factors.
The partnership with Google Cloud extends beyond AI and already includes infrastructure, data management and collaboration tools. In 2023, Valeo, Google Cloud and Artefact supported an internal Valeo hackathon focused on generative AI use cases in engineering, project management, knowledge management and industrial maintenance.
That earlier work appears to have laid the foundation for the broader deployment now under way. The current phase shifts the emphasis from experimentation to larger-scale use across both technical and non-technical teams.
"Our partnership with Google Cloud has been a driver of our digital transformation since 2008. By putting Gemini for Workspace into the hands of every Valeo employee, we are not just upgrading our tools; we are embedding a culture of innovation. The move toward Agentic AI with Gemini Enterprise represents the next chapter, allowing our engineers to focus on high-value breakthroughs while AI agents handle complex operational cycles," said Christophe Perillat, Chief Executive Officer, Valeo.
Google Cloud described the agreement as an example of generative AI moving from pilot projects into day-to-day business use at a large industrial group. It has been positioning Gemini and related agent tools for use across software development, knowledge work and operational processes.
"Valeo is a prime example of how a global leader can harness the power of generative AI to transform every facet of its business. From accelerating software development with agents to empowering their workers with Gemini for Workspace, Valeo is setting a new standard for the automotive industry. We are thrilled to deepen our collaboration as they pioneer the use of agentic AI to redefine the future of mobility," said Anthony Cirot, Vice President EMEA South, Google Cloud.
