FYI, this story is more than a year old

Acer is releasing two new computers designed for business and commercial use - the TravelMate X514 and the Chromebook Spin 13.

The convertible Chromebook Spin 13 has a 360-degree hinge for use in four different modes: tablet, display, tent-mode or notebook.

The TravelMate X514 opts for the traditional laptop design for keyboard-heavy tasks.

Weighing less than 1kg with a width of 14.9mm, Acer's TravelMate X514 is designed for portability, including up to 10 hours of battery life.

The magnesium alloy chassis is lightweight, but the laptop can still handle heavy workloads with the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processor and execute larger tasks with DDR4 memory and the super-alert PCle NVMe SSD.

The 14” FHD IPS display allows for a good screen-to-body ratio with narrow 9.2mm bezels and a touch screen display for a choice of user interface.

The reversible USB Type-C port enables users to transfer data as they share power with external devices.

The Trusted Platform Module is a hardware level that is essential for business who are security conscious.

TPM 2.0 ensures secure authentication and safeguards company data, as well as the Windows Hello built-in fingerprint. “The workplace is becoming less traditional. With the rise in work-life integration consumers are demanding laptops that can keep up with their business needs,” says Acer Oceania managing director Darren Simmons.

“We have listened to our customers and evolved our laptops to equip them with a tool to conquer the demands of a modern workforce. The TravelMate X514 is a lightweight laptop, that not only delivers on the specs front, but is visually appealing too.

The Chromebook Spin 13 includes a 13.5-inch QHD display and 2256x1504 resolution.

The laptop has a 178-degree viewing angle, providing the 3:2 aspect ratio display with 18% more vertical space compared to a regular 16:9 display.

Like the TravelMate X514, the Spin 13 battery also lasts up to 10 hours.

The Chromebook Spin 13 has a Wacom EMR stylus with an elastomer tip, which provides a more natural writing experience with greater control.

Featuring a dual USB 3.1 Type-C port, the Chromebook Spin 13 has the capability to transfer data quickly when connecting to an external display or for charging other devices.

It also features a dual slot-antenna to provide fast and reliable 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, while Bluetooth 4.2 delivers a convenient connection to peripherals.

“Not only are workplaces becoming less traditional, but the classroom is too. With the Australian EdTech market expected to grow to $1.7 billion AUD over the next 3 years, it's an exciting time for education,” says Acer Oceania sales director Rod Bassi.

“As the leader in chromebooks, Acer has played a vital role in their adoption in education. The new Chromebook Spin 13 has a premium profile that provides a superior performance that delivers results.
